Getting started: from a new account to your first flow
This walkthrough takes you from nothing to a working flow that you have run once. It has one shared start, then two paths: building your first flow with an AI client you already use, or building it yourself in the Floxar website. Both end in the same place.
1. Create your account
- Sign up at Floxar with your email address and a password, or with your Google account, and confirm your email.
- Accept the terms.
- On Welcome to Floxar, choose Create a new account, give your name and an account name for your team or organization, and choose Create account. You are the account's administrator.
If someone has invited you to an existing account, you skip this step and land in their account instead. To join an account you were not invited to, choose Join an existing account and send a request to its administrator.
Your new account opens on Home's Overview, with a checklist for getting your account running that tracks the steps below.
2. Decide what to build
Pick a small, real process that your team does often: three to six steps, with at least one decision. Approving a request, onboarding a customer or handling a common support case are good first flows. Have the steps clear in your head, or in a document you can use.
Now choose your path.
Path A: with your AI client
Use this path if you already work with an AI client such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or a code editor's AI assistant.
- Turn on connections for AI clients. As administrator, open Account Settings, then MCP, then Configuration, and allow connections for your account. They are off until you turn them on.
- Copy your account's address. The same page shows your account's connection address.
- Connect your client. Add Floxar to your AI client with that address and sign in when your client asks. Each supported client has its own short guide; see Connecting an AI client.
- Ask it to build your flow. Describe the process, or give it your document, and ask it to create a Floxar flow: one bit per step, with the questions each step needs as interactive elements, connected in order, with a choice wherever the process branches. A clear request works well, for example: "Create a Floxar flow for approving expense claims: check the receipt, check the amount against the policy, and approve or send back."
- Review it in Floxar. Open the new flow in the website and read through its steps. Adjust anything in the bit editor, or ask your client to change it.
Then continue with Run your flow below.
Path B: in the Floxar website
- Write the first step. In the navigation, open Workspace, then New content, and choose Bit. Give it a title, such as "Check the receipt", and choose Create Bit. The bit editor opens.
- Add what the step asks for. Write the instructions, then add interactive elements for what must be recorded: a checklist, a choice, a text field. Mark anything the process cannot go on without as required. See Interactive elements and their settings.
- Add the next steps. Choose Connect in the toolbar, then Create New, to create the next step and connect it in one go. At a decision point, add one connection for each path and give each a clear label. See Bit connections.
- Repeat for each step until the last one, which has no connections.
- Create the flow. In Workspace, open New content and choose Flow. Give it a title and choose your first bit as its starting bit. See Building flows.
Run your flow
- Open Worklist in the navigation.
- Under Start a flow, find your flow and choose Start. A trail opens at the first step.
- Work through the steps, answering what each asks and choosing the path at each decision.
- Complete the trail on the last step.
- Open the trail from the Trails page and look at its record: every step, every answer, and the path you took. See Running and tracking trails.
What next
- Invite your team. See Inviting users, roles, and permissions.
- Improve the flow. What did running it once show you? See What makes a good flow.
- Let an AI agent run it. See Where Floxar fits in an AI stack and Designing AI workloads with Floxar.
- Organize the work. See Organizing work with categories.
